We have a couple of months until the real Tennessee heat kicks in, but at least once a week, my son has been asking for a popsicles after dinner. So, I decided it was time to get out the old popsicle molds and make my version of a Peaches & Cream popsicle.
I used Green Valley Organics Dairy Kefir to make the pops and give my son's gut a little love with the boost of probiotics. Plus, we both just love the sour taste of kefir (pronounced kee-fer) & plain yogurt. Green Valley kefir is made from California milk and a proprietary probiotic blend, Flourish. Flourish contains 10 different live and active probiotic strains. To learn more about Flourish head on over to Green Valley's website.
Green Valley Organics' products are also lactose free for those who cannot properly digest this milk sugar. I also like that Green Valley's products are stamped with the Certified Humane seal of approval since the treatment of animals is very important to me. Here you can learn more about California milk and the Dairy Council of California.
I consider dairy kefir a little nutritional powerhouse. It is a fermented milk beverage that not only provides probiotics that are beneficial to your gut, but also contains a variety of vitamins and minerals. This fermented beverage differs from yogurt as it is made from kefir grains, which are composed of beneficial and gut-healing yeast and bacteria. Kefir has a tangy flavor, is carbonated due to the fermentation process, and contains calcium, phosphorus, thiamine, vitamin B12, biotin, and vitamin K2. I can feel good about giving my son a frozen treat that is also giving him a boost of protein, calcium, probiotics, vitamins, and minerals...along with a little sweetness.
